Today was another day full of rain. At first I was disappointed because I had really enjoyed being able to ride my bike again. Also, I had been loving the cool, sunny weather.

I decided to walk to school. I was reminded of the time when I lived on the other side of campus and would walk to school in the rain. How had it been so long since I'd done this?

Of course, it proved to be wonderful. On the way home I found myself full of playfullness. I sang along to my music and danced down the sidewalk. I stopped along the curb and stood with my feet in the water when it was traveling especially fast..

I approached the intersection near my house and stood on the corner, bopping my head to my tunes, waiting for the light to change. Right at the moment when I had really drifted off, a giant truck drove by and splashed water all along the front of me.

I found myself laughing before I had even fully realized what had happened.

I'm smiling now just thinking about it.

Not because it's funny.. for another reason. Not sure even what words would describe it. But I'm glad it happened. It's nice to be reminded of this childlike side of life.

It's been raining for the past few days here in Denton. It's been lovely of course. I cant wait to see the color of green everything will be once the rain passes and the sun comes out. I rode my bicycle to class this morning. It wasn't raining at that point. Once I got out of class though it was pouring. I rode home, listening to the perfect music, dodging the mass of cars (since everyone drove because of the rain.), loving my position in this day.
It was rejuvenating.

"Freedom is perhaps the most resonant, deeply held American value... Yet freedom turns out to mean being left alone by others, not having other peoples' values, ideas or styles of life forced upon one. But if the entire world is made up of individuals, each endowed with the right to be free of other's demands, it becomes hard to forge bonds of attachment to, or cooperation with other people, since such bonds would imply obligations that necessarily impinge on one's freedom." - Robert Bellah
(The progress of individualism, it turns out, shades easily into fragmentation.)

QUICK UPDATE:

I had my first bicycle crash last week. I was zooming through a parking lot and before I knew it I hit a curb and went flying. I thought it was one big parking lot but in fact it was two smaller ones divided by an unexpecting obstacle.

Twisted my ankle.
Banged up my elbow.
Scraped my leg and back.
My bicycle was only mildly bent up but it's all fixed now.

Last night I went to see Spoonfed Tribe. It was a great time. I've been trying to see them for some time now. The show was at Tree's. We had Mexican food before and it was so yummy. Dancing at those shows is one of my favorites.
I want to see them again at an outside show. That's the best.

I've been watching ALOT of Golden Girls lately.

I miss writing/receiving letters. If someone would like to be pen pals leave me your address.
Here's mine if you want to go first.

I'm getting pretty close to graduating, I'll be all finished up in December.
I have a ton of things I'd like to do, and a million places I want to see. (That reminds me, does anyone know someone that lives in, or around, Newport, Maine?)
There is some farm work I'd like to do out there, but would need a place to stay..

Just a few updates:
- One of my roommates set up their drums in the living room the other day, which has been so much fun! I still only have one beat, but at least now I can play it on multiple drums. It still drives everyone crazy though.. I know.
- I'm just about done with summer school, and once again, the academic challenge has proved to be a not so funny joke. I truly wish 'college level classes' meant something more than they do. (Don't get me wrong, I know college can be tough for some people, it's just not the case with my major. I wish I had made different decisions in this area.)
- I recently bought a film camera from a good friend who is now in Korea teaching English. He sold everything before he left. I'm just about at the end of the first roll; looking forward to seeing what comes out.
- Went on the Tuesday Night Bike Ride last night, and was reminded how much I need that every week. Why I neglected that for so many weeks escapes me. How I enjoy those pleasant
reminders.

Been spending as much time as I can at the lake this summer. It's been really lovely. Who knew Ray Roberts was so close! I'm glad I realized it when I did.
My friend Casey has an inflatable sailboat. Its pretty interested. I didn't even know such a thing existed. Its takes about 15minutes to set-up and its a ton of fun! Then, when you're done, it deflates and fits in a ridiculously small bag and goes back into the trunk of his car. What a great purchase.

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer, make a comment and tell me what adventures you're on.

I started watching this movie last night with a new, good friend. I didn't finish it but what I saw was so fun.
The plot line was real random.. and wasn't very smooth, but I love movie's that are based in some sort of fantasy world. The special effects were real silly, but I think its incredible what people tried to do with actual props. (i.e. the reason the original Star Wars movies are far better than the newer ones, or even the digitally remastered originals. VHS is the only way to go when it comes to Star Wars) On the topic of real life movies, and props.. I want to make a stop-motion video. Not real sure how to go about that.. but I think I'll start looking into it. Maybe I'll ask Laura Goldhamer. Oh and on THAT note, check out her music. Its incredible and she's beautiful. check it out! so impressive!
Apparently this guy doesn't know how to play the drums or the piano, he just happens to be really good at editing.
I think its safe to say he definitely has a musical ear.

For the past three days I was camping at Tyler State Park. It was incredible. I really don't get out there enough. I went fishing three times (and caught absolutely nothing!), rode my bicycle, sat around the campfire, walked around the lake, laughed, took a few pictures, journaled (for the first time in quite some time) and listened to the wind blow thru the trees.
I've got to get out there again soon.

Pictures taken from my birthday celebration.
I went to Chucky Cheese, a dollar movie, Ozona's and the Dallas World Aquarium.
The aquarium was absolutely incredible.

Watch it.
How would you describe it?

A few nights ago, I spent the evening with an old friend. I've known Justin since sixth grade. Our parents were really close friends so it worked out great for us. Ever since I can remember Justin has had a passion for cooking. When he invited me over for 'Soul-Food Night', I knew it was going to be great. He prepared an incredible amount of food! We had home-made fried chicken, green bean casserole, mashed potato's, rolls, mac'n'cheese, collar greens, and jell-o. It was all so delicious!
While we ate we watched Mo'Nique's independent comedy DVD where she performed at a women's prison. It's called 'I Coulda Been Your Cellmate!'. It stirred up so many emotions. The DVD started and ended with personal interviews with some of the inmates, which were pretty tough to watch. The whole thing really caught me off guard. If you ever get an opportunity to see it, check it out.
